Kreb cycle is the process of oxidation of of acetyl co-A into CO2. This process is discovered by H.A KREB . KREB cycle occurs in matrix of mitochondria . All the essential enzymes required for this process ( citrate synthatase , aconitase ,Decarboxylase etc ) present in mitochondrial matrix except marker enzyme succinic dehydrogenase .
When acetyl co-A enters in matrix of mitochondria, it is accepted by acceptor molecule oxaloacetic acid . Oxaloacetic acid and acetyl Co-A combine to form a 6 carbon compound citric acid and the cycle start with the formation of different compound like- cis aconitase , iso citrate , oxalosuccinate, alpha keto glutrate, succinyl coA , succinate , Fumarate, malate and oxaloacetate.
In this process 3 NADPH2, 1 GTP , 1 FADH2 is formed.
