Mesophyll is situated below the epidermis. It help in photosynthesis . Mesophyll is composed of two type of cell-
1- Palisade Parenchyma
In this type of cell chloroplast content is more , so it play major role in photosynthesis.
Generally it forms a single well organised layer just below the epidermis.
2- Spongy parenchyma
There are large spaces left between the cells of spongy parenchyma. These large spaces allow these
layers to help Co2 move around the leaf. The Spongy mesophyll also allow plant to bend and move in wind, which itself move gases around the leaf cell.
Spongy parenchyma also help in photosynthesis.
Mesophyll is a type of ground tissue. It consist of following part-
